Advanced SIKS Course: "Contemporary AI for Serious Gaming"

On 03 and 04 November 2014, the School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS) organizes the Advanced SIKS-course on "Contemporary AI for Serious Gaming". The location will be Conference center Landgoed Huize Bergen in Vught. The course will be given in English and is part of the Advanced Components Stage of the educational Program for SIKS-Ph.D. students. Although the course is primarily intended for SIKS-Ph.D. students, other participants are not excluded. However, their number of passes will be restricted and depends on the number of SIKS-Ph.D. students taking the course. In this course we will discuss some of the ways AI and agents can be used to support the design and implementation of (serious) games in order to make them more interesting for players or better facilitate learning. The course will have a practical component in which the participants will design and implement intelligent behavior for characters in a game. The strategies will be tested in a competition.
